About Me

    Hi. Welcome to Kode360.com

My name is Ken Rumsey, otherwise known as Koding. I am a college student currently in my 2nd year of study working towards an AA in Mathematics and an AS in Computer Analysis/Programming. I should complete both degrees in the Fall of 2008. In Spring 2009, I intend to start my undergraduate studies to get a BS in Mathematics and and then on to a PhD in Mathematics.
    I 1-sin(theta) Math!!

The site will contain a seemingly random assortment of things as I am interested in many things. One day I could be talking about a 360 game, then a math problem I'm working on, and end the day with a post about an anime I recently watched. There's really no way to predict what I'll blog about

    Thanks for reading. Enjoy.

Evening everyone!

Late update today. 2 physics lab and I didn’t leave school until after until after 4. Then I had to go shopping. Now I need to go play some Halo 3.

Happy Bungie Day everyone!

BADGES:
Got the 1 star Family badge. Adding the 1000 points from Open Season made it happen. I also broke my record for most achievements earned in one day. Previously it was 44 gained on 8/19/2007. Yesterday I earned 49 achievements!

GAMES:
GTA IV: Nothing new. 39/50 achievements; 685/1000 gamerscore

Call of Duty 4: Nothing new. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

Forza 2 Motorsport: 2 new achievements. Made level 45 and started golding the final races! 36/44 achievements; 585/1000 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
With the massive lead I had yesterday, I really thought I’d still be in the lead in the challenge today. However someone else had another idea and blew by me adding on 1,110 points yesterday. So now I’m in 2nd, 405 points from the lead but I have a healthy lead over 3rd.

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“…from the time of Kepler to that of Newton, and from Newton to Hartley, not only all things in external nature, but the subtlest mysteries of life and organization, and even of the intellect and moral being, were conjured within the magic circle of mathematical formulae.”

Until tomorrow…

Morning everyone!

BADGES:
Got the 1 star Family badge. Adding the 1000 points from Open Season made it happen. I also broke my record for most achievements earned in one day. Previously it was 44 gained on 8/19/2007. Yesterday I earned 49 achievements!

Call of Duty 4: Nothing new. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

Open Season: 46 new achievements. Yes, it was an easy game. Took right around 4 hours to beat. But then another 1/2 hour trying to max out that stupid snowball level. 46/46 achievements; 1000/1000 gamerscore

Forza 2 Motorsport: 1 new achievements. Finally got to Level 40! 34/44 achievements; 520/1000 gamerscore

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2: 1 new achievement. Finally shot enough bad guys while hanging upside down like Spiderman on his web. 38/47 achievements; 790/1000 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
With all the points above, it should be no suprise that I’m currently in 1st place in the challenge. However this is day 1 of a 30 day challenge so right now being in 1st really doesn’t mean anything.

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“The measure of our intellectual capacity is the capacity to feel less and less satisfied with our answers to better and better problems.”

Until tomorrow…

Last Time on Xbox 360

Morning everyone!

Happy Independence Day to anyone who celebrates the day and Happy July 4th to everyone else!!

BADGES:
Got a shiny new badge to add to my collection, the API Samurai badge! I created the 360voice User Info page and spent most of yesterday fixing bugs that users found (and some I created after I fixed other things). Check it out and let me know if you have any comments, suggestions, or criticisms.

GAMES:
GTA IV: Nothing new. 39/50 achievements; 685/1000 gamerscore

Call of Duty 4: Played a few matches of Dominations. Haven’t updated the stats page yet though. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

NASCAR 08: Drove a few more races at Bristol. I have driven around 2700 miles out of the 5000 I need. 18/24 achievements; 475/1000 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
The 30 day challenge I joined should have started last night. But the host partied too much last night (his words, not mine) and he forgot. He swears on “Euclid’s Elements” that he’ll start it today (my words, not his).

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“You can only find truth with logic if you have already found truth without it.”

Until tomorrow…

A long time ago, 41 years to be exact, I was born into this world.

That would make today my birthday.

Happy Birthday to me.

I’ve already gotten a rocking chair, a high fiber drink, and a samurai sword given to me today. But no cake yet!

Yesterdays Xbox 360

Morning everyone!

GAMES:
GTA IV: Nothing new. I know I need to play this. I want to play this. Why don’t I play this?? 39/50 achievements; 685/1000 gamerscore

Call of Duty 4: Nothing new. Didn’t even touch my stats page. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

Rainbow Six Vegas 2: 7 new achivements. Got the 1st achivement just by booting it up. The new update gave me enough XP to make me an officer. Then I did a boosting session last night and got the rest. 37/47 achievements; 770/1000 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
I joined a new challenge that should start tonight. Another 30 day one and I’d really like to win this one!

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“To isolate mathematics from the practical demands of the sciences is to invite the sterility of a cow shut away from the bulls.”

Until tomorrow…

Afternoon everyone!

GAMES:
GTA IV: Nothing new. 39/50 achievements; 685/1000 gamerscore

Call of Duty 4: Nothing new. Didn’t even touch my stats page. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

Lost Odyssey: 3 new achievements. Wow, that game is awesome. I’m really getting into it. Played for almost 4 hours last night. And it’s been a while since a game grabbed me emotionally like this one did. That story about Hanna really got to me. The last time I felt that way about something in a game was when Hawk was executed in front of me in Soldier of Fortune. Anyway, great game, I can’t wait to see where the story goes. 3/42 achievements; 80/1100 gamerscore

NASCAR 08: 0 new achivements. Ran a couple more races at Bristol. Still working on that 5000 miles driving achievement. Currently just over 2500 miles run. 18/24 achievements; 475/1000 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
As I figured, I finished 5th in the challenge. Congrats to Dermatophyte. He put on 5,490 points in the 30 days. Second place added on 5,050 points and everyone else was way behind them. I just signed up for another 30 day challenge so hopefully I’ll do better in this one.

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“As for everything else, so for a mathematical theory: beauty can be perceived but not explained.”

Until tomorrow…

Morning everyone!

Short and sweet update for you today. Not much happened yesterday.

GAMES:
GTA IV: Nothing new. 39/50 achievements; 685/1000 gamerscore

Call of Duty 4: Moved up to rank 45! Did another page of challenges on the stats page. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
Still at 5th in the challenge. Today’s the last day and I doubt I’m going to get many points so it’s looks like 5th place it is.

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“A thing is obvious mathematically after you see it.”

Until tomorrow…

Afternoon everyone!

GAMES:
GTA IV: Nothing new. 39/50 achievements; 685/1000 gamerscore

Call of Duty 4: Moved up to rank 44! Still got a few things left to complete on the stats page. 22/37 achievements; 450/1000 gamerscore

Spyglass Board Games: 6 new achievements. I’d been wanting to get this for a while and now that the Buy.com fiasco is over and I have the points, I went ahead and got it. I like the games, however I think their AI leaves something to be desired. Especially in chess. I’ve played 3 year olds who had more chess strategy than this game. Oddly, my weakest game is checkers. I must have lost 30 or so games of checkers yesterday. Go figure. 6/12 achievements; 95/200 gamerscore

CHALLENGE:
Holding at 5th in the challenge. Lost Odyssey didn’t arrive from GameFly today. What am I not surprised (their shipping times still suck!). Hopefully I can rack up some points on something else.

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“It is a mathematical fact that the casting of this pebble from my hand alters the centre of gravity of the universe.”

Until tomorrow…

Am I Irrational?

No, not like √2 irrational or anything like that. Lately, my fellow classmates have made fun of me because I have a very powerful pet peeve. It’s the pronunciation of the word data. I have one professor (name withheld to protect the annoying) who insists on pronouncing data like it has two t’s in it, like dat-ta. And it drives me crazy. I actually get a shiver down my spine every time he says it. Really.

I believe the word is pronounced with the first a long, like this: dā-tə
Now with the first a pronounced like in bar, like this: dä-tə

I have created an MP3 so you can hear both ways. Leave a comment and let me know which way you say it.
